About the Trump Rage Index
What is this?
The Trump Rage Index measures what fraction of general internet conversation is about Trump — and how angry those mentions are. Every 30 minutes, we scan Reddit r/all and Bluesky's discover feeds, count how many comments mention Trump, analyze the rage intensity, and surface the most unhinged meltdowns for you to vote on.
Methodology (v3)
The rage score (0-100) is computed from three components with platform-aware sigmoid scaling and confidence weighting:
Scaled Rage Ratio — 40%
Raw Trump-mention ratios are passed through a logistic sigmoid tuned per platform. Reddit's r/all has a lower baseline (4% midpoint) because Trump appearing in gaming and sports threads is remarkable. Bluesky uses a higher midpoint (8%) reflecting its more political userbase. For Reddit, a topic-penetration model measures how many distinct post topics mention Trump and how spread out those mentions are — high breadth scores higher. Bluesky scoring uses only organic What's Hot posts (search results are excluded to prevent inflation). Each platform's score is weighted by data confidence (how many posts were scanned).
Anger Intensity — 35%
AI analysis (Claude) of Trump-mentioning comments, measuring anger levels weighted by engagement. Detects sarcasm, creative insults, all-caps rants, and distinguishes anger AT Trump from general discourse.
Engagement Weight — 25%
Average normalized engagement (upvotes, likes, reposts) of Trump-mentioning comments. Reduced from v2 because the topic penetration model already captures engagement-driven spread.
Meltdown Spotlights
Each scan, Claude picks the most entertainingly unhinged comment per platform — the creative insults, the all-caps rants, the spectacularly angry hot takes. These become "Meltdown Spotlights" presented Ridiculousness-style with AI-generated host introductions and comedic closing commentary. Every meltdown is framed as a segment on the world's angriest talk show. You can upvote or downvote the best ones.
